The Power of Slow: a backyard gathering
"In an age of speed, I began to think, nothing could be more invigorating than going slow. In an age of distraction, nothing can feel more luxurious than paying attention. And in an age of constant movement, nothing is more urgent than sitting still. " -Pico Iyer
Yutori is the Japanese word for spaciousness. It's the ability to read a poem and sit in the space it's created in your heart. It's the practice of leaving for an appointment early enough so you arrive with enough time to look around before your appointment begins. It's the luxurious feeling of not being rushed and not being in a rush.
In this three hour gathering, we'll discuss the importance of cultivating yutori: slow living in a fast paced world. We'll use sensory experiences as gateways to living in the present moment and as pathways to expanding our ability to receive.
We'll be gathering in an intimate backyard setting complete with a fire ring, cozy cushions, hot tea, and supportive community. The gathering will end with a 20 minute rest practice and a hot meal.
You'll walk away with a permission slip for slowing down and savoring your life as it is right now. You'll learn that your self worth is not determined by your level of productivity. You'll gain practices that you can incorporate right away to experience more ease, less stress, greater creativity, and less hustle. If you've been feeling rushed, overwhelmed with all the to dos, wondering when you'll get "there," disconnected from your purpose, or generally out of alignment, this is for you. This is a workshop leading you back home to you.
